Main Wharf Piling Begins at new Cruise Berth
Channel DeepeningMaintenance DredgingReclamation

We have commenced piling the main wharf piles for the Cruise Berth - another step closer towards the country's first custom-built cruise ship facility.

Piling on the site started last July, and HEB Constructionhas now begun driving the main-wharf piles. The piling will occur intermittently until early 2020, with the cruise berth expected to be complete in late 2020.

Piling will not be continuous during this period, though during busy days piling activities could occur for 5-6 hours of the day, with frequent breaks of no piling.
Piling only occurs during the following times:

Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm: Construction works (including piling) will not commence earlier than 7:30am or finish later than 6:00pm.
Saturday, 8:00am to 5:30pm: Construction works will not commence earlier than 8:00am or finish later than 5:30pm; noisy activities, such as piling, hydro excavation and concrete cutting, will not take place before 8.30am or after 4.30pm.
The piling schedule on the Harbourwatch website will be updated regularly.

If you have any questions, comments, or wish to speak to us regarding the piling, please contact LPC’s Environmental Advisor for the project Jared Pettersson at Jared.Pettersson@lpc.co.nz.
