Community: Port tours raise over $2700

Over 400 people bought tickets for a week of bus tours around the port for a rare opportunity to see how LPC operates.

Staff family and friends were among the passengers, which included young children to retirees keen to see inside the gates.

Many people shared their connection to the port, historical stories, and growing up nearby.

The tours raised $2744 for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.

Toni Tinirau, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre General Manager was thankful for the support.

“Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is extremely grateful to receive such generosity from the Lyttelton Port Company who hosted the recent Port Tours – such a great initiative that benefits the tamariki of Cholmondeley,” said Toni.

“A huge thank you to the Lyttelton Port Company and the Christchurch community for supporting the centre to ensure we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our tamariki.”

LPC plan to host more tours over the summer and will first open tickets to the waitlist of over a hundred people first.

In September, LPC will restart the summer 90-minute boat tours around the Inner Harbour, Te Ana Marina, and Container Terminal, with commentary provided by the LPC Team.

Bookings will be available in August 2024.
